Product information "BirA, GST-tag, recombinant protein"
Biotin ligase BirA, GenBank Accession No. NP_418404, a.a. 2 - 321 with N-terminal GST-tag, MW = 61, expressed in an E. coli cell expression system. Protein function: BirA acts both as a biotin-operon repressor and as the enzyme that synthesizes the corepressor, acetyl-CoA:carbon-dioxide ligase. This protein also activates biotin to form biotinyl-5'- adenylate and transfers the biotin moiety to biotin-accepting proteins. [The UniProt Consortium]
