The gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that regulates glucose metabolism and insulin secretion, is a target for the development of therapeutic agents to address type 2 diabetes and obesity. Protein function: This is a receptor for GIP. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. [The UniProt Consortium]
