(S)-Laudanosine is the (S) enantiomer of laudanosine, a metabolite of the neuromuscular blocking agents atracurium (Cay-17796) and cisatracurium (Cay-22959). (S)-Laudanosine is also an alkaloid that has been found in the prickly poppy A. platyceras. It inhibits prolyl endopeptidase with an IC50 value of 341 µM. (S)-Laudanosine (100 µM) inhibits both arachidonic acid- and collagen-induced aggregation in washed rabbit platelets.Formal Name: (1S)-1-[(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6,7-dimethoxy-2-methyl-isoquinoline.
