Description: Rivaroxaban (BAY 59-7939) is an orally bioavailable oxazolidinone derivative and a direct inhibitor of coagulation factor Xa with anticoagulant activity. Upon administration, it selectively binds to both free factor Xa and factor Xa within the prothrombinase complex, interfering with the conversion of prothrombin (factor II) to thrombin and preventing cross-linked fibrin clot formation. Rivaroxaban does not affect existing thrombin levels. Target: Thrombin, Factor Xa. Smiles: O=C1N(C[C@H](CNC(=O)C=2SC(Cl)=CC2)O1)C3=CC=C(C=C3)N4C(=O)COCC4. References: Perzborn E, et al.
