Resorufin beta-D-galactopyranoside is a fluorogenic substrate for beta-galactosidase. Upon enzymatic cleavage by beta-galactosidase, the fluorescent moiety resorufin is released and its fluorescence can be used to quantify beta-galactosidase activity.
