Active ingredient in Oryzemate, an agricultural chemical that has been widely used to protect rice plants from rice blast and the bacterial blight pathogen. Induces non-race specific resistance in rice plants against rice blast fungus. Defense activator that stimulates the SA/NPR1-mediated defense signaling pathway upstream of salicylic acid (SA).
