Opicapone

Opicapone is a peripherally selective inhibitor of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT). It inhibits COMT activity in rat liver, but not brain, homogenates (ED50 = 1.05 mg/kg). Opicapone (3 mg/kg) increases plasma levels of L-DOPA (Cay-13248) and reduces plasma levels of 3-O-methyl-DOPA (3-OMD) when administered in combination with benserazide (Cay-20298) and L-DOPA.
