MSAB is an inhibitor of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling. It binds to beta-catenin and promotes its proteasomal degradation in HCT116 cells. MSAB (2-10 µM) selectively inhibits the proliferation of Wnt-dependent cancer cells over non-cancerous cells and Wnt-independent cancer cells. It reduces Wnt3a-induced increases in beta-catenin levels in a reporter assay using HEK293T cells. MSAB decreases the expression of the Wnt target genes AXIN2, MYC, CCND1, and BMP4 in a concentration-dependent manner in HCT116 cells.
