It produces antiparasitic activity by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels expressed on nematode neurons and pharyngeal muscle cells, inducing irreversible channel opening and very long-lasting hyperpolarization/depolarization of the neuron/muscle cell, thereby blocking further function.
