Hispidol

Hispidol is an aurone originally isolated from soybeans that has diverse biological activities. It is an inhibitor of tyrosinase, monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A), and MAO-B (IC50s= 38.4, 0.26, and 2.45 µM, respectively). Hispidol (50 µM) increases catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in cell-free assays, as well as decreases intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) in, and increases the lifespan of, C. elegans.
