Protease inhibitor produced by Actinomycetes. Inhibits serine and cysteine proteases: a, b, g, d chymotrypsin, papain, cathepsin A, B and C. Mixture of Types A, B and C where A=Leu, B= Val, C= Ile. Mostly Type A. Synonyms: (S)-1-Carboxy-2-phenylethyl)-carbamoyl-alpha-[2-iminohexahydro-4(S)-pyrimidyl]-(S)-glycyl-X-phenylalaninal , CAS No: 9076-44-2 , Molecular Formula: C31H41N7O6, Molecular Weight: 604.9 , Appearance: White to off-white powder , Solubility (10mg/ml, glacial acetic acid): Colorless to yellow, clear, complete, Percentage of X Components: Leu: ~75%, Val: ~20%, Ile:~5%, Activity (IC50) (alpha-chymotrypsin/casein, pH 7.4, 37°C): ~0.2ug/ml, Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile glacial acetic acid. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Important Note: This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological.
