8-hydroxy Efavirenz is a major oxidative metabolite of the non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor efavirenz (Cay-14412). 8-hydroxy Efavirenz is formed when efavirenz is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP2B6.
