Product information "Ceftriaxone (sodium salt hydrate)"
Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is selectively active against Gram-negative bacteria, including N. gonorrhea and S. pyogenes (MICs = 0.01-0.025 and 0.012-0.25 µg/ml, respectively), over Gram-positive bacteria such as S. epidermidis and S. aureus (MICs = >25 µg/ml for both). Ceftriaxone inhibits S. pyogenes penicillin-binding protein 2 (PBP2) and PBP3 (IC50s = 0.108 and 0.146 µg/ml, respectively). Formulations containing ceftriaxone have been used in the treatment of various bacterial infections.Formal Name: (6R,7R)-7-[[(2Z)-2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-(methoxyimino)acetyl]amino]-8-oxo-3-[[(1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio]methyl]-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid, disodium salt, hemiheptahydrate.
