Anti-phospho-GluR1 (Ser831)

Anti-GluR1 pS831 Antibody is directed against rat GluR1. The antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide. Immunolabeling is completely eliminated by ?-phosphatase treatment. Reactivity is expected from the following species based on 100% sequence homology: canine, chicken, human and mouse. Protein function: Ionotropic glutamate receptor. L-glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. Binding of the excitatory neurotransmitter L- glutamate induces a conformation change, leading to the opening of the cation channel, and thereby converts the chemical signal to an electrical impulse. The receptor then desensitizes rapidly and enters a transient inactive state, characterized by the presence of bound agonist.
