Product information "Anti-alpha-tubulin"
Tubulin is one of several members of a small family of globular proteins. The most common members of the tubulin family are alpha-tubulin and beta-tubulin, the proteins that make up microtubules. Each has a molecular weight of approximately 55 kiloDaltons. Microtubules are assembled from dimers of alpha- and beta-tubulin. Protein function: Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules, a cylinder consisting of laterally associated linear protofilaments composed of alpha- and beta-tubulin heterodimers. Microtubules grow by the addition of GTP-tubulin dimers to the microtubule end, where a stabilizing cap forms. Below the cap, tubulin dimers are in GDP-bound state, owing to GTPase activity of alpha-tubulin. [The UniProt Consortium] Recommended dilutions: WB 1:2,000 IHC 1:200. Cellular localization: Cytoplasm,Cytoskeleton,Microtubule
