Description: Recombinant mouse IL23A protein with C-terminal human Fc tag Background: Contributes to interleukin-23 receptor binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of defense response to virus by host, positive regulation of immune response, and positive regulation of neutrophil chemotaxis. Acts upstream of or within T cell proliferation and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in extracellular space. Part of interleukin-23 complex. Is expressed in decidua, decidua basalis, embryo, and extraembryonic component. Orthologous to human IL23A (interleukin 23 subunit alpha). Molecular Characterization: mass of 45.8 kDa after removal of the signal peptide. Tag: C-Human Fc tag Protein function: Associates with IL12B to form the IL-23 interleukin, a heterodimeric cytokine which functions in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-23 may constitute with IL-17 an acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL-23 binds to a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
