IL-6 (mouse):Fc (mouse) (rec.) (non-lytic) MultiPack

The extracellular domain of mouse IL-6 (aa 25-211) is fused at the C-terminus to the Fc portion of a mutant mouse IgG2a. Lyophilized from 0.2µm-filtered solution in PBS. Shows the biological function of the IL-6 moiety and exerts a prolonged circulating half-life caused by the modified Fc domain. Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic alphahelical cytokine that plays important roles in acute phase reactions, inflammation, hematopoiesis, bone metabolism, and cancer progression. IL-6 activity is essential for the transition from acute inflammation to either acquired immunity or chronic inflammatory disease. It is secreted by multiple cell types as a 22 kDa 28kDa phosphorylated and variably glycosylated molecule. Human IL6 is equally active on mouse and rat cells. IL-6 induces signaling through a cell surface heterodimeric receptor complex composed of a ligand binding subunit (IL-6R) and a signal transducing subunit (gp130).
