Sulfamethizole

Sulfamethizole is a broad spectrum sulfonamide antibiotic (MIC90s = 1.25-5,000 µg/ml against clinical isolates of E. coli and K. pneumoniae). It inhibits dihydropteroate synthase, an enzyme involved in folate biosynthesis.
