Sugammadex (sodium salt)

Sugammadex is a synthetic derivative of gamma-cyclodextrin and a steroid-based neuromuscular blocker reversing agent. It binds rocuronium (Cay-23698) within its cyclodextrin ring and selectively reverses rocuronium-induced neuromuscular blockade over that induced by mivacurium (Cay-23610) or atracurium (Cay-17796) in anesthetized rhesus monkeys. Sugammadex also prevents formation of postoperative peritoneal adhesions in rats.
