Deferoxamine (mesylate)

Deferoxamine is a bacterial siderophore that chelates iron. It is used to experimentally inhibit iron-dependent prolyl hydroxylases (EC50 = 17.8 µM), thus preventing the degradation of isoforms of hypoxia inducible factor during normoxia.
