AL 34662 is an agonist of the serotonin (5-HT) receptor subtype 5-HT2. It selectively binds to 5-HT2 receptors (IC50 = 1.5 and 0.77 nM in isolated and washed human or rat cerebral cortex homogenates, respectively) over a panel of 19 neurotransmitter and steroid receptors at 10 µM. AL 34662 induces calcium mobilization in a reporter assay using primary human ciliary muscle cells (EC50 = 140 nM).
