Carbenicillin Disodium

Carbenicillin is a beta-lactam type inhibitor of bacterial cell wall synthesis. The antibiotic inhibits crosslinking of peptidoglycan by binding and inactivation of transpeptidases. High activity against gram-negative bacteria. Carbenicillin is used for the elimination of Agrobacterium species after inoculation. Sensitive to beta-lactamase. Non-toxic to plant cells. Soluble in water. Hygroscopic, protect against moisture.
