Acetylation of histone H3 is associated with active gene transcription. Acetylation at H3K18 and H3K24 favors methylation at H3R17me by CARM1/PRMT4. SIRT7 is a chromatin associated H3K18Ac specific deacetylase. Studies show a significant correlation between low expression of H3K18ac and better prognosis of patients with oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
