Anti-HDAC2 (Histone Deacetylase 2, HDAC-2, YAF1)

Histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2), is a ubiquitously expressed intracellular enzyme that is involved in the post­translational modification of proteins. Acetyl groups are added to e­NH3 on lysine residues by acetyltransferases and removed by HDACs. The balance between these reactions has widespread effects on the enzymatic activity, subcellular localization, and molecular interactions of the substrates. HDAC2 can associate into several multiprotein complexes with discrete functions. Acetylation of core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) alters their interaction with DNA and the local availability of DNA for transcription. The function of HDAC2 itself is regulated by several post­translational modifications including phosphorylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, tyrosine nitrosylation, and cysteine carbonylation. Within aa386­488, human HDAC2 shares 98% and 96% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat HDAC2, respectively. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.2ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
