Ghrelin is a 28 amino acids peptide with an essential n-octonayl modification at Serine 3. This peptide hormone is known as an endogenous ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor and shares sequence similarity with the peptide hormone Motilin. Ghrelin displays pleotropic actions including growth hormone secretion, feeding behavior and gastrointestinal motility. It is predominantly produced by enteroendocrine cells from the gastrointestinal tract, but has been shown to play a significant role in neurotrophy, particularly in the hippocampus, and appears to be essential for cognitive adaptation to changing environments and the process of learning. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 detected Ghrelin in 10ug of mouse stomach tissue lysate., Immunocytochemistry: 1:500 detected Ghrelin in A431 cells., Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Mouse stomach tissue lysate, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
