Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, also known as nAChRs, belong to a family of proteins called ligand gated ion channels and are widely expressed throughout the nervous system. nAChRs are made up of 5 subunits (two alpha and three beta). Subunits a4 and b2 (a4b2) is the main receptor in the mammalian brain and has been associated with the positive reinforcing effects of nicotine. The relative contribution of nAChRs b2 and b4 are not well understood because the subunit structure that mediates synaptic transmission in the peripheral nervous system is unknown. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:20000, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Rat e16 brain lysate, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
